Wonderful Smaller Ship Experience

30-Aug-2023

We chose the Ovation for its itinerary of Iceland and finishing in Denmark, but we were blown away by the superior service and staff on the ship. We have only cruised on larger lines before (Royal, Holland, Celebrity), and while those ships were nice, this experience was far better. The rooms were huge, the bathrooms were enormous and it was close to feeling like a hotel room rather than a cruise ship. The service was above and beyond fantastic. Everyone was friendly and outgoing and although at some points in the dining room the service was slow-ish it was not for lack of trying by the wait staff. We chose the same waiter each night that we dined in the MDR and he was superb. The food in the MDR was the only knock on the cruise. There were plenty of options, but nothing stood out as great and most of it was pretty average. The food at other parts of the ship like sushi and the steakhouse were vastly better and we decided as a group that the sushi restaurant was the best food on the ship (as well as the friendliest staff). We would sail on Seabourn again in a minute and although this was our first "luxury" cruise, we are hoping it will be our normal way of cruising.

Third and MOST FANtastic cruise on Seabourn to Antarctica..

01-Nov-2023

This was our third cruise to Antarctica and the second time on Seabourn to AA. We wanted to experience the NEW(2023) Seabourn Pursuit Expedition ship. We have done many Seabourn cruises and this was probably the BEST. As expected, the crew, food, service, tours, experiences were all top shelf. There were only about 220 passengers aboard and felt like being on our own private mega-yacht. Being a smaller group of people, it felt like a more intimate friendly group of people ready to chat, etc. As for the landings(Zodiac rides), the experienced crews knew how to run them. Our other AA cruise on another very hi-end cruise lines were training kids to run Zodiacs. It did not go well. Seabourn's expedition team is possibly the best on the hi-seas especially with their AA experience. We actually got an extra day in AA after leaving the Falklands early, arrived at Deception Island in the evening, and went ashore. Most days we got to do 2 landings in the Shetlands and on the peninsula. We highly recommend this ship and we plan to do a 40 day trip next summer(2024) through the S. Pacific.

Excellent cruise ship; but more "luxury" than expedition

15-Oct-2023

Our prior 3 cruises were expedition cruises on the Silver Explorer. When we heard of Seabourn's new expedition ship,we were curious to see what it was like. Our 18 day cruise started in Valparaiso, Chile (Santiago) and ended in Ushuaia. Sailing through the Chilean Fjords, then crossing the Drake Passage to Antarctica where we spent 5 days, and back. Overall we had a very good experience. The ship is beautiful, and has an enormous amount of space for a 260 passenger ship (there were about 220 passengers on this cruise). We got a highly discounted upgrade to a luxurious Panoramic Veranda Suite, which has large floor to ceiling windows, a veranda, and the bed faces the view. It was the finest suite we've ever had on a cruise ship, though usually we don't go for upgrades like this. Staff were uniformly excellent. Their training levels were superb. Almost everyone was friendly and helpful. There are basically 2 restaurants, the main Restaurant, and the Colonnade which is open for breakfast and lunch buffets, and a themed meal with very few choices most evenings. The food was very good to excellent in most venues, and in-suite dining was a real plus, especially given how comfortable our suite was. Caviar, as is the Seabourn tradition, is available whenever you wanted it. We had a full caviar service delivered to our suite several times. We liked most meals, though the lunch steam table buffets could be a little boring. Entertainment was limited, as you would expect on a ship this size. We particularly enjoyed a British singer, Kalon Rae, who was a winner of The Voice on TV, and an excellent performer, as well as being a lovely person. Our only real criticism is that the Expedition staff, though talented in many ways, largely disappeared when they weren't actually leading trips or lecturing. On Silversea they were often present and available around the ship during "off" hours, and this enhanced our experience. Nikki, the Expedition Leader, was only visible (at least to us) when she was in her official role. No opportunity to talk with her at other times. She did do a good job with her formal duties. It was a great cruise in many ways, and I have no hesitation in recommending this ship highly.
