In the huge hollow of Furnas Valley, diverse volcanic activity has also created thermal springs and boiling mud pools. For lunch today we'll enjoy a traditional Cozido cooked in the volcanic fumeroles.

We also have time to visit the botanical gardens of Terra Nostra, planted over 200 years ago which has an outdoor thermal pool in which you may like to take a dip. There were no jaw dropping highlights on this trip

There were no jaw dropping highlights on this trip but it was an interesting insight into island life in the Azores. The islands are all similar as might be expected but beautiful. In hindsight I would havene earlier in the year when all of the flowers, mainly Hydrangea, are in bloom. Excellent small group whot on really well. The group meals organised by Tania were od value. In the main the food wasod and plentiful and drinks were usually included. Some of the walks were a bit challenging but manageable (age - lack of fitness). Overall a thoroughly enjoyable holiday despite some poor weather which was to be expected given the time of year.
