Tour Overview
Take your children, grandchildren, nieces or nephews on a day trip they'll never forget as you journey 100 kilometres above the Arctic Circle to a sparkling landscape of snowy forests. For here, in the remote heart of Swedish Lapland, you'll find Pajala - the secret home of the real Santa Claus, his reindeer and his happy team of helpers. For a few precious days in December, you can go on a day trip to Lapland on our specially chartered flight - the only 'Santa' flight into Pajala on that day - for a once-in-a-lifetime experience in a natural winter wonderland that's as far away from the everyday, increasingly commercial Christmas celebration as you could ever hope to find.
Highlights
Itinerary
Day 1 : Lapland Day Trip Tour Details
Location: Pajala
Meals Included: No Meals
Fly direct to Pajala in Swedish Lapland on a specially chartered flight. This will be the only flight to Pajala on this day and numbers are strictly limited, which means you'll have plenty of time to enjoy all the activities on offer throughout the magical day.
Your Lapp hosts will meet you, before you take a short, warm and comfortable coach journey to Santa's Village.
After a quick change into the cosy, thermal garments provided, you'll head out into the snow split into groups. Enjoy a magical ride in a traditional reindeer-drawn sleigh, a trip through the countryside on a dog-sled pulled by real huskies and a thrilling ride on a snowmobile. Between the organised activities, you'll have quality time as a family to enjoy the snow, with toboggan rides, snowman building and snowball fights!
Once you've worked up an appetite, head into the welcoming warmth of the main building, and tuck in to a delicious two-course lunch of hot soup and Swedish meatballs with mashed potato. Warming hot berry juice, water and biscuits will also be available throughout the day.
But the highlight of the day will surely come as you set foot on the 'secret path' through the forest, and follow the twinkling lanterns to Santa's log cabin home. Get your festive wish-list ready, as Father Christmas will be waiting there to greet you personally; the perfect end to a perfect, magical day.

Temperature
Temperatures rarely rises above freezing, and can sometimes get as low as -35C. Thermal wear for all sizes is provided at Santa's Village, but we recommend that you bring a suitable hat, gloves and outerwear (preferably layers) for travel between the aircraft and the village. Footwear is also available if you do not have your own boots. If the temperature becomes so cold that activities become unsafe, we may move the location or time of those activities.
Meals
Meals will be served on both outbound and inbound flights. Lunch at the village will consist of soup followed by traditional Swedish meatballs or a vegetarian option. If this menu is unsuitable for your party, we would recommend bringing some snacks with you. Hot berry juice will be available throughout the day. Due to the remoteness of the location we are unable to fulfil any special dietary requirements. We'd, therefore, ask that any customers who suffer from allergies provide their own food for the day. You may also like to bring treats for your children to snack on during the day. Due to airport security, liquids must be purchased after you have passed through Passport Control and you should not purchase “Duty Free” liquids at your UK airport.

Travelling to Europe after Brexit
New rules apply when travelling to European Union countries and Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway and Switzerland. The following are useful guidelines which will help you prepare for your next adventure. Note that these new rules do NOT apply when travelling within the United Kingdom or to the Channel Islands, the Isle of Man or the Republic of Ireland. You do require government issued ID when travelling by air though.
Passport - British passport holders need to have at least six months validity left on their passport and it needs to be less than ten years old; passports which have a longer validity than ten years are not valid for travel once the tenth anniversary of issue has passed. These rules do not apply to travel to Ireland where you can continue to use your passport as long as it’s valid for the length of your stay.
Visa - If you’re a tourist, you do not need a visa for short trips to most EU countries, Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway and Switzerland. You’ll be able to stay for up to 90 days in any rolling 180-day period. Different rules will apply to Bulgaria, Croatia, Cyprus and Romania; if you visit these countries, visits to other EU countries will not count towards the 90-day total. Travel to Ireland will not change and stays there will not count towards the 90-day total.
European Travel Information & Authorisation System (ETIAS) - Towards the end of 2022, it is likely that non EU citizens will be required to apply online for an authorisation to visit most European countries. The current details suggest there will be a charge of €7 per person and the authorisation will be valid for all trips made to the EU in a three year period from issue. We will advise you of confirmed details prior to your tour’s departure.
Border Control - At border control, you may need to show proof of your return journey - your travel documentation issued by us will be sufficient for this. You will also need to use separate lanes from EU, EEA and Swiss citizens if manual checks are required.
Healthcare Cover - You should always get appropriate travel insurance with healthcare cover before you go abroad which covers pre-existing conditions. You should understand the terms and conditions of your travel insurance and be happy with its cover for healthcare and travel disruption. Newmarket sell a comprehensive travel insurance policy. Ask our travel consultants for more information. You should also apply for a UK Global Heath Insurance Card (GHIC) which lets you get urgent state healthcare in Europe at a reduced cost or sometimes for free. Note GHIC is only valid in EU countries and not in Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway and Switzerland.
Mobile Roaming - Roaming charges have been re-introduced by some UK providers when visiting the EU, Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway and Switzerland. Prior to travel, please do check with your phone operator for the most up to date information.
