Accommodation: Hotel, Private Cottage

Meals Included: Dinner

Arrive at the cottage in Llanrwst, North Wales. Set in the beautiful rolling hillsides of Snowdonia national park, your accommodation is a stunning detached Welsh long cottage, with the original part of the cottage dating back some 300 years. The bedrooms are beautifully furnished to make your stay lovely and comfortable.

Get your running kit and head torch on, it's time for a night run to get everyone warmed up for a weekend of trail running. It will be a gentle run and you'll be out for around an hour. Just enough to experience running under a starry night sky, far from any light pollution, and get to know your coach and fellow runners.

Back at the cottage you'll have hot showers and a hearty wholesome dinner waiting for you. Freshen up, tuck in and get a good nights sleep.

Back at camp you'll have hot showers and a hearty dinner waiting for you. Freshen up, tuck in and get a good nights sleep.

Day 2 : Saturday

Location: Llanrwst

Accommodation: Private Cottage

Meals Included: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

Enjoy breakfast in the dining room, where Tim Higginbottom will give a briefing on the plan for today.
Head out into the beautiful Gwydir Forest for a longer trail run. Guided by Tim, you'll explore a stunning part of Snowdonia National Park. During the run Tim will be able to observe your technique, offering tips to help you get the most output from your effort.
The trail running camp is about enjoying great trails and great company whilst learning from experts. So there's no need to worry about the pace, we'll only go as fast as the slowest person. As long as you're comfortable running for around 2 hours, at whatever pace, you'll be fine.
Gather back at the hall for a wholesome lunch and a debrief on this morning's run by Tim Higginbottom.
This afternoon Tim will run a training and technique workshop, aimed at helping you to identify specific areas to work on to improve your performance. Together with his tips on how to create an effective training plan, you'll be set for a successful summer of trail running.
Our yoga teacher, Kirsty Martuccio, will join us this afternoon too. As well as the mindful movement and flexibility associated with yoga, her workshop will focus on connecting your breath to movement. As runners we often focus on the physical side of running, but improving your breathing technique can bring great benefits in performance too.
Kirsty has developed a yoga flow specifically designed to establish that connection between your breath and your movement. Enabling you to run more relaxed, and therefore for longer.
After a full day of trail running and workshops, kick back and relax. Dinner will be a hearty affair to make sure you're fully refuelled. Then you can enjoy curling up in front of the fire for a natter with your new friends.

Day 3 : Sunday

Location: Llanrwst

Meals Included: Breakfast

Embrace the new day with a sunrise trail run. Freshly loaded up with knowledge from yesterday's workshops, you'll be ready to start putting our professionals' advice into practice.

The run will be a similar length to yesterday, so expect to be out in the hills for around 2 hours. As before the emphasis is on enjoyment, not pace, and you can begin to experiment with the tips you've been given. Today your run will include running across the Pontcysyllte aqueduct, a UNESCO World Heritage site and the world's highest navigable aqueduct - a pretty epic way to conclude your running weekend!)

Back at the hall there will be a breakfast feast awaiting you! Bacon butties devoured, all that's left to do is pack up your things and say a fond farewell to your running buddies.

Check out our Q&As

  • Will I know the names and details of all the accommodation before I depart?

    Yes

  • Do you operate a “single share” option and how does it work?

All of our accommodation is priced on a shared basis so, as a solo traveller we’ll match you up with a like-minded, same-sex travel partner. You’ll both benefit from avoiding unnecessary single supplement charges and you might just spark up a friendship that lasts beyond the length of your trip. if you do prefer to have your own private room, that can usually be accommodated. • What does 'fully supported mean?

When we talk about fully-supported adventures, this means we’ve made everything as simple as possible for you. We take care of your accommodation for the duration of your trip and provide all the transport you need within the UK. We also make all the arrangements necessary for your chosen activities.

  • How many other people will be in my group?

Typically our groups are between 8 and 15 people. Of course when we’re dealing with specific activities such as mountain biking or hiking, we always work within the recognised guiding ratios. So for example, our mountain bike adventures will never exceed 8 guests in total.

  • I'm making my own way to the start point of your tour. How do I know where to go?

If you plan to arrive by train, please contact us for information on the closest main line station to your tour start location. You’re welcome to arrange your own transfers or we will make arrangements on your behalf if preferred. If you plan to drive and need a suitable location to leave your car, please contact our team for recommendations on the best location to head for.

  • Are you adventures suitable for children?

Our adventure packages are all aimed at adults aged 18 years or over. This is partly because many activities have height or age restrictions and we found that trying to factor this in when crafting our experiences, limited what we could include. Our aim is to deliver the best of the best in each region, so we weren’t comfortable with compromising the activities we could offer.

An excellent trail running weekend

25-Mar-2020

Thank you for an excellent trail running weekend. Really enjoyed exploring a quieter side of Wales, getting off the beaten track with Tim, taking in the amazing views and then stretching it all out at the end with Poppy's yoga. Very well-fed with wholesome food using locally sourced ingredients. Left the camp feeling revived and relaxed, with some excellent tips, advice and a training plan to take my trail running to the next level. Thank you!
