  Windsor & London

This morning we travel to Royal Windsor on our included excursion. Famous for the castle, which is over 900 years old and the largest inhabited castle in the world, Windsor boasts pleasant cobbled streets lined with tearooms, souvenir shops and restaurants.

This afternoon we return to London for free time.

icon Day 3 Stonehenge & Bath
Location:

  Stonehenge & Bath

We begin the day with a visit to one of England’s most famous landmarks, the fascinating, prehistoric Stonehenge. You will have time to explore the visitors' centre before admiring the monument up close.

Later, we continue to the elegant Georgian city of Bath. Renowned for its Roman heritage, natural hot springs and graceful architecture, you will have free time to explore the city’s delightful streets at your own pace.

This afternoon we continue to Bristol for an overnight stay.

icon Day 4 Stratford upon Avon
Location:

  Stratford upon Avon

We head to the lovely market town of Stratford upon Avon. Set on the River Avon and famed as the home of William Shakespeare, you will have time to discover the historic landmarks and locations associated with the famous playwright.

We continue to Leeds for an overnight stay.

icon Day 5 York
Location:

  York

This morning we head to York. With Roman roots and a strong Viking heritage, York is one of England’s finest and most beautiful historic cities. Surrounded by ancient, medieval walls the city has a stunningly preserved historic heart which is home to the magnificent Gothic Minster. Famed for its medieval stained glass, the Minster’s Great East Window is thought to be the largest area of stained glass in the world.

This afternoon we travel to Edinburgh, where we stay for two nights.

icon Day 6 Edinburgh
Location:

  Edinburgh

We spend the day in Edinburgh, one of Europe’s great capital cities. Walk the Royal Mile, which links Castle Hill (the city’s oldest street), the Lawnmarket, High Street and Cannongate and runs through the heart of the Old Town.

Take time to discover the atmospheric ‘closes’ or alleys running rib-like off the backbone of the Mile. There is also a good choice of pubs, restaurants and teashops, so it’s easy to find refreshments while exploring.

icon Day 7 Pitlochry & the Cairngorms
Location:

  Pitlochry & the Cairngorms

We begin the day with a visit to Pitlochry. Famous for its two malt whiskey distilleries and salmon ladder, you will have time to explore this pretty little town before continuing through the Cairngorms National Park to Inverness.

The largest National Park in the UK, the Cairngorms is renowned for its spectacular scenery and abundance of wildlife including Red Deer and the Golden Eagle.

We stay overnight, near Inverness.

icon Day 8 Loch Ness & Loch Lomond
Location:

  Loch Ness & Loch Lomond

This morning we head to Loch Ness –arguably Scotland's most famous Loch – where you will have time at leisure to explore.

The ruined Urquhart Castle, located along the northern shore, indicates the deepest part of the Loch, which may be the best place to spot the elusive monster?

We continue to Loch Lomond, mainland Britain's largest lake. Overlooked by the peak of Ben Lomond, Loch Lomond is described by many as 'the Queen of Scottish Lochs' and is often referred to as the ‘Gateway to the Highlands’.

We stay overnight in the Glasgow area.

icon Day 9 Ferry to Larne
Location:

  Ferry to Larne

This morning we make the two-hour ferry crossing from Scotland to Northern Ireland, arriving this afternoon in the vibrant city of Belfast, where you will have time at leisure to explore this bustling city, perhaps visiting the Titanic Belfast Exhibition (entrance at extra cost).

During your visit, an optional sightseeing tour will be available to introduce you to the city. Our sightseeing tour takes in the Falls and Shankill Road, and political wall paintings. We also see the Cathedral Quarter, one of Belfast’s oldest areas. We then return to the city centre, passing Stormont and the CS Lewis Memorial.

Later, enjoy time at leisure, maybe for a pint of Guinness at the famous Crown Liquor Saloon. We stay overnight in Belfast.

icon Day 10 Giant's Causeway
Location:

  Giant's Causeway

A day of fantastic scenery on our included excursion as we head to the world-famous Giant’s Causeway (visitor centre entrance extra, approximately £12.50), with its basalt columns and tales of ancient Irish giants. Entrance to see the famous stones is via the new visitor centre, and then either by walking to the stones (approximately ½ mile), or taking the local shuttle bus (extra cost – approximately £2).

Our day continues with a picturesque drive through County Donegal to the county town of Sligo for two nights. Straddling the Garavogue River, Sligo is known for its literary heritage and its dramatic scenery.

icon Day 11 Wild Atlantic Way
Location:

  Wild Atlantic Way

A day of glorious scenery awaits as we head to Achill, Ireland's largest island on our optional excursion.

Reaching the island by road bridge, we follow the spectacular Atlantic Coast Drive, a circular route around the southern tip of the island overlooking the Atlantic Ocean and the islands of Clare and Beg.

icon Day 12 Galway
Location:

  Galway

We leave Sligo and head south to the ‘City of Tribes’, Galway. You will have free time to explore the beautiful beaches, long winding promenade, cobbled streets and colourful shop façades.

This afternoon we head east to Dublin.

icon Day 13 Dublin
Location:

  Dublin

We spend today in the lively Irish capital of Dublin, where our optional sightseeing tour will give you a taste of this fascinating city. The tour will show you the inner city of Dublin, which if left on your own would take a week!

You will see both the north and south part of the capital. The tour is a panoramic one, seeing beautiful buildings of significance like Trinity College, St Patrick’s Cathedral, The National Art Gallery and the Four Courts. Dublin is a beautiful Georgian city and highlights will be the magnificence of Georgian Dublin with visits to some of the superb squares.

Dublin is also home to the Guinness Storehouse, should you wish to pay homage to Dublin’s most famous drink and see a panorama of Dublin from its glassed Gravity Bar.
