Start the day by exploring the city in the company of an expert local guide. Enjoy panoramic views of the Opera house and ‘She Lies’ floating sculpture, Karl Johans gate – Oslo’s main shopping street, the imposing Akershus Castle and Fortress, and the spectacular Royal Palace. We'll then take a picturesque ride through some of Oslo’s prettiest neighbourhoods to Vigeland Park. Step through the wrought-iron gates to explore the park home to more than two hundred sculptures. This afternoon is free for you to make your own discoveries in this delightful city.

Day 3 Oslo To Balestrand

Location: Balestrand

Accommodation Name: Kviknes Hotel

Meals Included: B, D

After breakfast we'll make our way to Oslo station for a journey along the Bergen Railway, one of the world's most scenic train rides. As you leave the city behind and venture to the mountain station of Myrdal, you’ll watch as the landscape transforms into a stunning tapestry of lush greenery, meandering rivers, and cascading waterfalls.
Myrdal station, located 866 metres above sea level, connects with the spectacular Flåm Railway, our next journey. The famous Flåm Railway is one of the most beautiful and steepest standard-gauge railway lines in the world. The train runs through spectacular scenery and provides an unforgettable experience as the train traverses steep mountainsides and venturing through twenty tunnels before arriving in Flåm. Our journey continues as we board a ship to sail through steep mountains flanking the beautiful Aurlandsfjord and Sognefjord to Balestrand. This historic village sits on the northern shore of Sognefjord, Norway’s longest and deepest fjord. Its famous arm, the Nærøyfjord, has World Heritage status. We'll check in to our hotel and gather for dinner this evening.

Day 4 Balestrand At Leisure

Today you are free to explore the captivating village of Balestrand at leisure or relax at your hotel which overlooks the fjord. If you’re feeling active, there are a number of popular, well-marked hiking trails from Balestrand suitable for experienced hikers and novices alike.

This afternoon why not take the opportunity to join our optional excursion to witness even more of the magnificent Norwegian landscapes. We’ll take a cruise on the Fjaerlandsfjord, a narrow branch from Sognefjord, lined with steep and forested mountainscapes that lead to the edge of the majestic Jostedalen Glacier, the largest in continental Europe. On arrival at Fjærland, you'll visit the Norwegian Glacier Museum before continuing up to the Bøyabreen glacier – a branch of Jostedalsbreen glacier. Here you can take some photos and see how the glacier presses itself into the landscape. The return trip on the sightseeing boat back to Balestrand gives you the chance to reflect on the fact that these fjords were shaped several thousand years ago by the glaciers you've seen today.

We had a really enjoyable trip to Bulgaria , all the excursions and hotels were very good . Our Tour Director and Tour Guide were excellent and helped to make the holiday extra special. It is the first time that I have ever used Travelsphere but would not hesitate using them again in the future or to recommend them to friends or family .

Best travel company I have ever booked with!

03-Aug-2021

As a previous traveller with Travelsphere,I know that customer care and excellent tours are their stock in trade. When the Covid 19 Vaccination scheme was announced in November 2020 I booked Discover New Zealand with a cook island add on,all my internet and telephone calls were top rate ,my questions answered and my monies safe.As the pandemic changed I had to cancel the cook Island add on,again all handled in a prompt, efficient and personable way.Now due to the Covid Restrictions in New Zealand,my your has been cancelled and a full refund given.Excellent customer service from a well established and careing company.Thank you to all at Travelsphere.I am now planning a double tour to Australia and New Zealand when circumstances allow and have the Travelsphere brochure on order !

Can't fault them always polite friendly and very helpful on phone. I booked Canada last year and they were first class from start to finish. Also went to Italy with them and already booked for next year Chicago to New Orleans. Keep up the good service and you'll always have my bookings and 5 star status .

Such enjoyable holidays

03-May-2022

I have been lucky enough to have travelled 13 times with Travelsphere with several more booked over the next 18 months. Every holiday has been fantastic with three main reasons. (1) The itineraries in many wonderful locations. (2) The excellent Tour Managers. (3) The fellow travellers who also enjoy such fantastic Touring holidays. Thoroughly recommend Travelsphere and cannot wait for our 14th holiday starting next week!

Best Holiday ever!

23-Jun-2021

This was the first time we have been on a 'tour', we had always felt it wouldn't be our thing. We are total converts, the value of having a knowledgeable guide, plenty of time to explore on our own when we wanted to and extra tours available if we wanted easy access to some hard to get into places. I can't recommend Travelsphere enough, they were recommend to us by two sets of friends and we would happily recommend Travelsphere to others. (Packing tip :- We used clothes packs to separate everything into types.. made finding stuff so easy without packing and unpacking a whole case every few days.)
